Am I Losing my job?

Am I loosing my job

There seems to be an ongoing debate on which industries are going to be effected by the developing sophistication of machine learning, data science and AI. Recruitment is said to be one of those industries. I agree completely, recruitment will be effected but in many beautiful ways.

There will be a period that companies and organization will look to turn to their talent acquisition budgets to generate and assist in their hiring demands. From using data to determine when candidates in the market are most ripe for picking, when particular candidates are on the verge of resigning to predicting, further to psychometric testing, a candidates cultural suitability.

Sounds amazing doesn’t it? Well it is, this is the new era of recruiting and retaining talent. But as with any technological advances that have occurred within Human Capital, this is the next step. Imagine expecting a recruitment company to function without phones, emails, CRM’s or LinkedIn. Just a few of the notable advancements we have noticed over the years.

Similarly, machine learning, data science and AI are techniques and tools that Birch & James is taking steps to utilize on in the future. We must not see these technologies as threats but as an amazing opportunity to further the quality of the service that we provide and most likely in a more efficient way.

Further to this, there is an increasing demand for professionals within these industries and naturally there is an increasing surge of startups, entrepreneurs and companies looking to utilize these methods in different spheres, many of which we represent. Whether it be in energy, gaming, social media, pet technology there is continued and increasing demand for skilled personnel; and in this shape alone there is a lot of exciting development opportunities within recruitment.

So I end on this note for those in concern; Machine Learning, AI and recruitment need not compete, they must collaborate.

Many thanks for reading.
